Before sending university deposits or agent fees, verify the payee, refundable amount, timeline and currency costs.
Before paying, answer four questions
Who receives the money? What exactly is it for? When is it refundable? Who decides and processes the refund? If any answer is unclear, do not treat a sales message as the payment contract.
Separate every payment
| Payment | Who should confirm it? | Evidence to keep |
| University application fee | Official institution/platform | Fee page, confirmation |
| Tuition deposit | Official institution | Written agreement, invoice, bank transfer |
| Immigration application fee | Official government/provider | Official receipt and application reference |
| Insurance/health cover | Insurer or authorised institution | Policy, coverage and cancellation rules |
| Agent service charge | Service provider | Signed fee-and-refund terms |
A refusal does not automatically refund every expense
Visa decisions, university contracts, insurance cancellation and external service fees follow different terms. Ask the university how refusal evidence must be submitted, deadlines for claiming refunds, deductions, destination account and processing time. Confirm which payments are not reversible.
Example: refund amount versus exchange-rate loss
A hypothetical university agrees to refund a £2,000 deposit. Even if it returns the full £2,000, the rupees received can differ because of the exchange rate, remittance charges or conversion costs. Keep original currency amounts separate from INR estimates. Do not promise a fixed INR refund.
Agent-payment safety checklist
- Use the institution's verified payment link or bank details, independently confirmed from its official domain.
- Avoid transfers to an unrelated personal account.
- Save a complete payment reference and acknowledgement from the ultimate recipient.
- Do not share banking OTPs or allow others to invent financial declarations.
- If a charge is described as 'non-refundable', request its written legal basis and exact scope before paying.
India remittance notes
RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme sets a framework for permitted overseas transfers by resident individuals. Tax collected at source (TCS) and other tax treatment can change with law, purpose, source of funds and effective date. Confirm the current rate and threshold directly with your authorised dealer and tax professional before publishing numerical tax claims.

Pay karne se pehle chaar sawaal
Paisa kise milta hai? Kis cheez ke liye hai? Kab refundable hai? Refund decide aur process kaun karta hai? Koi answer unclear ho toh sales message ko payment contract na maanein.
Har payment alag rakhein
| Payment | Confirm kaun kare? | Kaunsa evidence rakhein? |
| University application fee | Official institution/platform | Fee page, confirmation |
| Tuition deposit | Official institution | Written agreement, invoice, bank transfer |
| Immigration application fee | Official government/provider | Official receipt aur application reference |
| Insurance/health cover | Insurer ya authorised institution | Policy, coverage aur cancellation rules |
| Agent service charge | Service provider | Signed fee/refund terms |
Refusal se har expense automatically refund nahi hota
Visa decision, university contract, insurance cancellation aur external service fees ke terms alag hain. University se refusal evidence submit karne ka process, refund deadlines, deductions, destination account aur processing time poochhein. Kaunse payments reverse nahi honge, confirm karein.
Example: refund amount aur exchange-rate loss
Hypothetical university £2,000 deposit refund karne ko agree karti hai. Poore £2,000 return hone par bhi FX rate, remittance charges ya conversion costs se received rupees alag ho sakte hain. Original currency amount INR estimate se alag rakhein. Fixed INR refund promise na karein.
Agent-payment safety checklist
- Institution ke official domain se independently verified payment link ya bank details use karein.
- Unrelated personal account ko transfer avoid karein.
- Ultimate recipient ka complete payment reference aur acknowledgement save karein.
- Banking OTP share na karein aur invented financial declarations allow na karein.
- Non-refundable charge ka written legal basis aur exact scope pay karne se pehle maangein.
