Choose the programme comparison first
Compare two real courses in the same field. Record modules, teaching format, assessment, duration and whether any placement is part of the course. A similar degree title does not establish equivalent professional recognition. Ask the relevant regulator if your intended occupation requires a separate licence.
CAS and AVATS are different records
The UK sponsor’s CAS connects the course and fee information to the Student route. Irish long-term study applications use AVATS and its document-submission summary. Keep each country’s application file independent. Do not copy the UK maintenance calculation, payment timing or evidence assumptions into the Irish file.
Compare cash needed before departure
For each offer, list tuition paid, unpaid tuition, deposits, visa-related charges and money that must remain available. Add travel and arrival expenses without counting the same money twice. Use original-currency university invoices and current official evidence instructions. An exchange-rate estimate is not a bank’s final transfer quote.
Treat housing as a decision gate
Ask both institutions for verified accommodation options, availability dates, deposits and cancellation rules. Map the commute and the period between arrival and a permanent room. A cheaper tuition offer can be offset by a costly housing plan. Never send money to an unknown personal account solely because a listing looks urgent.
Separate graduate routes from employment
Check the current immigration rules for your qualification and application date before relying on any post-study route. Then assess actual vacancies, language, experience and employer requirements. Family permission is a separate check. This comparison does not assert a universal work duration, dependant entitlement or likelihood of employment.
Use an offer decision table
Create columns for UK offer, Irish offer, evidence date and unresolved question. Compare academic fit, total course budget, accessible cash, housing and fallback timing. A research Master’s or PhD needs separate funding and classification checks; Bachelor’s families should extend the worksheet across every year. Decide only when the unresolved costs have owners and deadlines.
