Verify entry before paying
Send the institution your exact board, subjects and qualification details through its official channel. Ask whether you qualify for direct entry or need preparatory study. Do not turn a “12 versus 13 years” comparison into a universal rule; the actual credential and programme assessment matter. Keep the written response with the offer.
Budget the entire degree
List each year’s tuition, housing, insurance, travel and contingency separately. Compare a three-year and four-year course only using the actual programme duration and award. Ask how fees may change and what scholarship renewal requires. A first-year discount should not conceal an unfunded later year.
Resolve welfare and consent
If the student will be a minor, ask the institution and immigration authority about applicable consent, welfare and accommodation requirements. Do not use a guardian rule from another country. Plan how the student reaches campus, accesses medical support and contacts family without sharing sensitive records with informal intermediaries.
Choose a degree with a real outcome
Compare curriculum, assessment, internships and the awarding institution. For a regulated profession, ask the relevant regulator about the qualification you intend to use. A famous campus name does not replace this check. Keep a realistic return-to-India option as well as any overseas career plan.
Let the student own the application
Parents can help with funding and review, but the student should understand the course, submitted statements and account access. Use truthful academic records and explain any gaps accurately. A Master’s or PhD pathway later is a separate decision; do not pay now for a promised chain of future admissions.
Family sign-off checklist
Before a deposit, jointly confirm academic eligibility, full-course funding, housing, refund terms, account control and the next decision deadline. Put a named person against each unresolved task. If the student cannot explain the programme or the family cannot fund a later year, resolve that issue before committing money.
